- worked through Thing 22: Why is leadership important in Scotland’s social services?
- provided evidence of their learning through reflective writing.
This is part of the 23 Things ELC Leadership programme.
To earn this badge you must:
- work through Thing 22 of 23 Things ELC Leadership
- write at least 400 words, reflecting on these activities, including:
- what are the four objectives of the leadership strategy?
- how could you use these objectives in your work with children and their families
We will decline Open Badge applications without a completed reflective activity.
Before you submit applications and evidence for any of the 23 Things ELC Leadership Open Badges, it is recommended that you achieve these two Open Badges first:

You may also find it helpful to complete Things 1 – 4 before starting Thing 22.
Write at least 400 words, reflecting on:
- the enablers and risks or barriers affecting good leadership in your service
- actions relating to this that could be taken to help you evidence the quality indicators set out in the ‘How good is your leadership?’ section of the Care Inspectorate’s report
- examples of how these actions would make a difference to people experiencing your service.
