Informed about dementia
After earning this badge you can progress to the skilled level of the Promoting Excellence dementia learning framework. Find out more on our Promoting Excellence webpage.
The informed practice level within the Promoting Excellence dementia learning framework outlines the baseline knowledge and skills required by everyone working in health and social service settings, including in a person’s own home. The informed about dementia videos are a great starting point for learning, and a useful induction resource for new workers.
To obtain this badge you need to:
- watch the five informed about dementia videos on the SSSC Learning Zone
- reflect on the questions and key learning points in each video
- using the application form below tell us how what you learned from the videos informed your practice and what you intend to do more of, or differently, as a result.
Please read the evidence requirements below for more information about what you need to provide. Applications accompanied by incomplete or insufficient evidence will be declined.
None. This badge does not require you to hold any other badges.
You will need to provide written a statement, of 100 words or more, telling us how what you learned from the videos informed your practice and what you intend to do more of, or differently, as a result. You can provide your statement on the badge application form below or provide a link to your own blog/portfolio.
If you want to use a blog or ePortfolio entry as evidence, you might find our guide to preparing and publishing your evidence useful. We will also accept short audio or video statements if you prefer these formats.
Remember, the evidence you provide will be viewable by anyone who you show your badge to. Please don’t include confidential or private information within your statements.
The SSSC Open Badge system relies on trust. We trust that the evidence you provide will be of your own work and based on your own skills and knowledge.
By submitting an application you agree to the following statement:
“In studying and completing the activities for this badge, I confirm that all the work provided as evidence will be my own.”
The SSSC will revoke a badge if the evidence provided is discovered to have been the work of someone else.
